'Manay Lolit' Lolita Solis, 78, dies due to kidney complications

Veteran showbiz columnist and talent manager Lolita Solis, known as 'Manay Lolit,' passed away on Thursday, July 3, at the age of 78 due to complications from chronic kidney disease.

Her daughter Sneezy confirmed her mother's death in a statement released to GMA News Online and The Philippine Star, describing Manay Lolit as a feisty supporter and loyal friend.

Showbiz personalities such as Bong Revilla, Niño Muhlach, Yasmien Kurdi, and others paid tribute on social media, remembering Solis for her candid commentary and mentorship.

Despite battling illness, Solis remained active in the industry until recently, sharing updates about her health journey and celebrating her birthday with friends earlier this year.

Solis was also known for her controversial past involvement in the 'Manila Film Festival scam' in 1994 but later reflected on it as a significant lesson in her life.
