Chop-chop victim's widower arrested after decade-long hunt

The widower of a chop-chop victim from 2011 was arrested in Santa Rosa City, Laguna by the Philippine National Police-CIDG on Wednesday.

Alberto, as identified by police, was apprehended through an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 108 of Cabuyao City on March 14.

The victim's daughter reported new information to the police in February 2024 after her uncle allegedly revealed that Alberto had confessed to killing and dismembering his wife.

DNA testing confirmed on August 22, 2024 that the remains found in Santa Rosa City belonged to Alberto's wife.

CIDG chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III praised the investigative efforts of his team for their persistence over the years.

The public is encouraged to report criminal activities and fugitives to CIDG, which will handle the cases.
