Marcos Jr. reviews 2025 budget, considers cuts

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured on Monday that there will be no reenacted budget for fiscal year 2025 and is closely examining provisions he described as 'worrisome', including a PHP10-billion cut from the Department of Education's budget.

Since late Friday afternoon, President Marcos and his Cabinet officials have been reviewing the approved P6.352-trillion national budget for 2025.

The President aims to sign the budget bill into law before December 31st.

Mr. Marcos has also defended the decision not to allocate any subsidy for PhilHealth next year, citing its estimated PHP500 billion reserve fund.
