Magnolia Hotshots beat TerraFirma Dyip 89-84

Magnolia Hotshots secured a victory over TerraFirma Dyip with a score of 89-84 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium, improving their playoff hopes.

The game was tied near the end of the fourth quarter before Magnolia went on a decisive run to extend their lead, ultimately winning by five points despite TerraFirma's late-game efforts.

Ricardo Ratliffe scored 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Magnolia, while Zav Lucero contributed 17 points; the Hotshots improved to a 3-5 record in the season with this win.

Terrafirma struggled despite Stanley Pringle's 22-point effort; Brandon Edwards added 14 points but it wasn't enough as Terrafirma remained winless with nine losses.

Magnolia coach Chito Victolero praised his team for executing well down the stretch, noting that this was a matter of who wanted it more and highlighted Ricardo Ratliffe's improved performance after recovering from an injury.

Paul Lee missed the game due to a knee issue but is expected to return on January 16 or later.
