Lustre files Safe Spaces Act complaint, De Lima backs her

Actress Nadine Lustre has filed a complaint under the Safe Spaces Act in response to relentless and malicious attacks on social media.

Incoming ML partylist Representative Leila de Lima expressed full support for Lustre's legal action, emphasizing its importance in defending meaningful discourse against disinformation and harassment.

De Lima stressed that freedom of expression should not be used to undermine truth, dignity, and democracy, noting that many online statements are part of a deliberate effort to harass and discredit individuals.

The representative highlighted the case as a stand for truth and accountability, asserting that such behavior is unacceptable and must be addressed.

In her statement, De Lima thanked Lustre for her courage and determination, stating that every step she takes strengthens the fight for a humane, just, and democratic society.

Lustre was among De Lima's top endorsers in the recent midterm elections, where ML partylist ranked 14th out of 52 declared winners, paving the way for De Lima's political return after seven years of incarceration under the Duterte administration.
