Luis Manzano loses VP race to Mandanas in Batangas

Television host Luis Manzano lost the vice gubernatorial race in Batangas to incumbent Governor Hermilando Mandanas.

Despite his mother Vilma Santos-Recto and brother Ryan Christian Recto securing victories for governor and congressman respectively, Manzano struggled against the long-time political figure.

Based on partial results as of 2 pm on May 13, 2025, Mandanas had obtained 804,225 votes compared to Manzano's 552,044 votes with nearly all election returns transmitted.

Mandanas campaigned less actively than Manzano but emphasized his proven track record in improving health, education, livelihood, and security in the province.

Key issues in the race included scholarship programs, Batangas identity, and voter preference between an octogenarian incumbent and a younger challenger.

Santos-Recto, known as 'Star for All Seasons,' secured her comeback to politics with 640,073 votes, while Ryan Christian Recto won the 6th District congressional seat with 92,271 votes.
