LTFRB issues 1,018 permits for Holy Week bus surge

As of April 8, 2025, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued 1,018 special permits to public utility buses to accommodate the surge in Holy Week passengers.

These permits are valid from April 11 to 27, allowing buses to operate outside their designated routes and increase capacity for travelers during Semana Santa.

Since April 7, LTFRB has conducted random inspections of PUVs to ensure safety and orderliness, checking documents, vehicle markings, and safety accessories.

Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III advises passengers to plan ahead, check schedules, secure necessary documents, and avoid unregistered 'colorum' vehicles due to potential safety risks.

Starting April 11, the LTFRB will monitor private terminals to ensure help desks and sufficient personnel are available for assistance during peak travel times.
