Filipino war vets get free LRT-2, MRT-3 rides April 5-11

Starting April 5 to 11, Filipino war veterans can enjoy free rides on both Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), with LRT-2 also offering free rides to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on April 9, the Day of Valor.

Veterans must present a valid ID from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) to station security personnel when using their free ride benefit, and one companion is allowed to join them for free.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), operator and maintenance provider of LRT-2, will offer free rides to all passengers on April 9 during peak hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Jorjette B. Aquino stated that MRT-3 is recognizing the significant contributions of World War II veterans by offering them free rides for a week in response to a request from the Department of National Defense (DND).

LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera highlighted their appreciation and participation in celebrating the Day of Valor with these initiatives.
