LRT-2 partial service; full ops by 11:20 AM

Provisional service between Recto and Cubao was implemented on Wednesday due to a power failure affecting Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), but full operations resumed at 11:20 a.m.

The incident began around 3:30 a.m. when Trainset 9 experienced a power supply issue while in transit, leading to technical issues with Power Transformer No. 6 at Santolan and Transformer No. 5 at Anonas.

Partial operations started at 6:45 a.m., an hour later than the scheduled opening, as limited service resumed on the Recto-Cuba segment.

Service between Cubao and Antipolo remained suspended while repairs were being carried out, causing delays for many passengers who piled up outside affected stations in search of alternative rides.

To make it up to the public, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) ordered the LRTA to offer free train rides for the rest of Wednesday until Thursday.
