LRT-1 suspends ops for 3 weekends in Aug-Sep for Cavite Extension

The Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) will temporarily suspend operations for three weekends in August and early September to prepare for the inauguration of the Cavite Extension Phase 1, set to be operational by year-end.

No commercial train service will run from Fernando Poe Jr. station to Baclaran station on Aug. 17-18, Aug. 24-25, and Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

The suspension will allow for the integration of the existing system with the Cavite Extension in terms of signaling systems and safety tests.

Once completed, the extension will connect Manila to Cavite, reducing travel time from Baclaran to Niog in Cavite from over an hour to just 25 minutes via train.

Phase 1 will add 6.2 km to the existing LRT-1 line from Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City and is expected to serve up to 600,000 passengers daily.

Commuters are advised to plan their trips accordingly and utilize alternative transport options during the temporary closures; LRMC has coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for additional buses.
