Local leaders mediate MILF ceasefire in Pagalungan

Local leaders in Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur, mediated a ceasefire agreement between warring factions of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Thursday.

Mayor Abdullah Mamasabulod stated that MILF leaders involved in a longstanding conflict agreed to stop hostilities and allow civilians to return to their communities.

The local government facilitated the peace accord with assistance from military forces and Muslim religious leaders, who played crucial roles in mediating the agreement.

Datu Teng Matalam, former village chair of Kilangan and an MILF official, and Ustadz Norodin's group were involved in the conflict.

The 40th Infantry Battalion warned that failure to adhere to the ceasefire could result in military intervention against hardheaded MILF members.

The local social welfare office has provided assistance to affected civilians and distributed emergency food supplies.
