NCAA MVP Liwag distraught after Benilde loses to Mapua

College of St. Benilde star Allen Liwag was visibly distraught after his team lost the NCAA Season 100 championship to Mapua on Saturday.

Despite being named MVP and Defensive Player of the Year before the game, Liwag expressed disappointment during an interview with Inquirer Sports, stating that they 'defeated ourselves'.

Coach Charles Tiu praised Liwag's contributions throughout the season, acknowledging that Mapua was simply the better team in the finals series.

Liwag's performance this season included a 14.61 points per game average and 11.28 rebounds, leading Benilde to a 14-4 record and second-place finish.

The 6-foot-6 center remains grateful for his coach Charles Tiu's support and looks forward to another chance next season with two more years of eligibility left.
