Liberal party-list plans bill for EJK Victims Compensation Fund

Leila De Lima, the top nominee of the Mamamayang Liberal party-list, announced that her group plans to file a bill for an EJK Victims Compensation Fund if they win seats in the House of Representatives.

The proposed fund aims to provide support and care to families affected by extrajudicial killings during Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs.

De Lima emphasized that justice is finally within reach for victims' families, noting the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Duterte for crimes against humanity.

Government records indicate over 6,000 drug suspects were killed in operations under Duterte's administration, while human rights groups estimate the toll could be as high as 30,000.

De Lima highlighted that this initiative is about justice rather than vengeance and is a part of their ongoing fight to support EJK victims' families.
