Libanan: EDSA principles guide Philippine elections

House Minority Leader and 4Ps Party-list Rep. Marcelino 'Nonoy' Libanan highlighted the enduring spirit of the EDSA People Power Revolution on its 39th anniversary.

Libanan emphasized that the principles of democracy and good governance established during EDSA continue to guide Filipino elections, including the upcoming May 12 mid-term polls.

He noted that Filipinos have been able to freely elect national leaders from President down to local officials since the revolution, with the next midterm elections just weeks away.

Libanan underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and respect for human rights in maintaining democracy, values still relevant today.

Opposition leaders like former Sen. Leila de Lima and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno have called on Filipinos to honor Edsa by voting wisely and courageously in the upcoming elections.
