Letran beats Lyceum to end three-game losing streak

Colegio de San Juan de Letran secured a crucial victory over the Lyceum of the Philippines University in the 7th season V-League Women's Collegiate Challenge, winning with scores of 20-25, 25-21, 26-24, and 25-19 on Sunday at Paco Arena.

The win halted Letran's three-game losing streak and improved their record to 2-3, keeping them in contention for a playoff spot alongside Saint Benilde.

Gia Maquilang led Letran with 18 points including two blocks, while Sheena Sarie contributed 15 points on 13 attacks and two aces, helping the team overcome Lyceum's late surge in the fourth set.

Lyceum extended their losing streak to five games, eliminating them from playoff contention in the pre-season tournament organized by Sports Vision.

Letran’s coach Oliver Almadro emphasized the need for his team to improve in areas such as maturity and cohesiveness, noting that they are still catching up with other teams.

The Lady Knights will face undefeated UST on September 13 at noon, while Lyceum will play against St. Benilde on September 11 at 5 p.m.
