Letran wins tight match to lead NCAA women's volleyball

Letran defeated University of Perpetual Help in a closely contested match, winning 25-21, 25-20, 30-28 to share the lead with Saint Benilde and Lyceum in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Rookie Gia Maquilang led Letran with 19 points, contributing significantly to their victory and sealing the third set late with powerful kills.

Despite starting on a 2-0 slate, head coach Oliver Almadro emphasized that he is tempering expectations for his team's performance.

Letran also received strong performances from Nizelle Martin (10 hits), Natalie Marie Estrellar (18 excellent sets), and Lara Mae Silva (22 digs).

Perpetual Help struggled against Letran but managed to secure a share of second place at 1-1 alongside Jose Rizal University.

Arellano also secured a sweeping victory over Mapua, with Pauline De Guzman scoring 12 points for the Lady Chiefs.
