Leonardo submits counter-affidavit to DOJ on Barayuga death

Former National Police Commission commissioner Edilberto Leonardo submitted a counter-affidavit to the Department of Justice on Friday regarding murder and frustrated murder complaints related to the death of former PCSO board secretary Wesley Barayuga.

Leonardo's lawyer, Andres Manuel, confirmed that the affidavit was handed over during the preliminary investigation at the DOJ and stated they submitted the hard copy today, which Leonardo subscribed to and affirmed online.

Manuel declined to divulge details about the counter-affidavit.

Former PCSO general manager Royina Garma is also a respondent in these complaints along with Leonardo.

Both Leonardo and Garma have denied any involvement in Barayuga's killing during previous congressional investigations into alleged extra-judicial killings under the Duterte administration.
