40 lawmakers join POC Golf Cup for athletes' fund

At least 40 legislators from the House of Representatives are set to participate in the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Golf Cup II on Wednesday at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Cainta, Rizal.

The tournament aims to support the National Athletes' Trust Fund, which provides incentives and bonuses to athletes who secure podium finishes at the Paris Olympics this July and August.

POC President Abraham 'Bambol' Tolentino expressed enthusiasm about the legislators' participation, noting their passion for golf and sports and their willingness to help national athletes.

Six Filipino athletes have already qualified for the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, including boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan, and boxer Eumir Marcial.

Among those expected to compete are Reps. Mike Dy of Isabela, Richard Gomez of Ormoc City, and Aniela Tolentino, the POC Second Vice President from Cavite.
