69% of Filipinos support expanding AKAP financial aid program

According to OCTA Research's latest Tugon ng Masa survey, a majority of Filipinos support the continuation and expansion of the Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) program.

Implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in 2024, AKAP provides financial aid to those facing economic hardship.

The survey found that 69% of 1,200 respondents support the program, with awareness highest in Balance Luzon at 74%, while the lowest is observed in the Visayas (63%). Support was strongest among respondents from Mimaropa, where all agreed to continue expanding AKAP.

Lawmakers are pushing for further expansion of AKAP after recent surveys showed strong public support and validated its effectiveness.

Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. urged lawmakers to focus on improving aid distribution efficiency to address the struggles faced by Filipinos.

House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe called for collaborative efforts to speed up aid delivery, emphasizing that every Filipino deserves genuine care from the government.
