Vice Pres Sara Duterte appears at House hearing on father's drug war policies, skips own office inquiry

Vice President Sara Duterte appeared at Wednesday's House hearing on her father's drug war policies while the quad committee was questioning former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Batangas Second District Rep. Gerville Luistro urged Vice President Duterte to face a House inquiry into her office's fund utilization, noting that she has not attended all hearings despite being invited as a resource person.

Luistro highlighted that Duterte showed up at the hearing for her father but skipped other inquiries related to her own office’s budget and activities during her tenure.

The Committee is investigating allegations of irregularities in the use of OVP's P125-million confidential funds for 2022, with COA issuing a notice of disallowance on P73.2 million.

Former Education Undersecretary Gloria Jumamil Mercado testified that she received envelopes containing money from Duterte’s administration during her tenure in the Department of Education.

Vice President Duterte has not attended all hearings and recently claimed that Mercado is merely a disgruntled employee who solicited funds from private companies, a claim Mercado disputes.
