Landslide traps buses with miners, eight rescued

Three buses carrying mining company employees were caught in a landslide in Maco, Davao de Oro on Tuesday night.

Eight people have been rescued so far, while forced evacuations have been implemented in five barangays including Masara, Mainit, Tagbaros, Elizalde, and Panibasan due to the ongoing threat of landslides.

Evacuation centers such as Upper Elizalde, Andili High School, Nuevo Iloco High School, Panibasan Church, and Elizalde Immaculate Conception Quasi-Parish are now accommodating displaced residents.

A temporary Incident Command Post has been established in Barangay Elizalde to coordinate rescue efforts.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office/ Emergency Operations Center of Davao de Oro has deployed its Mountain Search and Rescue team to assist local authorities.
