Lacson urges LGUs to submit devt plans early

Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate Panfilo Lacson has advised local government units (LGUs) to submit their development plans early in the year to ensure funding for their projects.

Lacson emphasized that LGUs should aim to submit their plans by January, or even as early as November or December of the previous year, to the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC).

The former senator stressed that local officials are best suited to know the needs and priorities of their areas and urged the DBCC to prioritize these submissions.

Lacson also supports the Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment (BRAVE), advocating more autonomy and resources for LGUs while ensuring accountability.

He is considering legislation that would allocate one percent of LGU contributions to national tax collection for infrastructure and development programs.

Meanwhile, ex-senator Gringo Honasan received an endorsement from Senator Loren Legarda for his Senate comeback bid.
