LA Tenorio leads Philippines' U16 team at FIBA SEABA Qualifiers

Former Gilas Pilipinas standout LA Tenorio will lead the Philippines' team at the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers as head coach of the national youth squad, marking his coaching debut.

The tournament, hosted by Pampanga from May 24-30, will take place at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando following a meeting with provincial governor Dennis 'Delta' Pineda.

Tenorio, who is also an assistant coach for Gilas men and a veteran player with Barangay Ginebra in the PBA, takes over the Batang Gilas program following Josh Reyes' departure last November.

The Philippines aims to maintain its dominance against Southeast Asian rivals like Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia to secure a spot at the FIBA Asia Cup in August.

Tenorio's coaching debut comes after his successful career as a player, including key roles in Gilas' heydays during the 2010s when they won the Jones Cup and secured a return to the World Cup.
