PNP reports over P4M damage, 3K personnel affected by Typhoon Kristine

Over P4 million worth of infrastructure and assets belonging to the Philippine National Police (PNP) were damaged due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, disclosed that 3,063 police personnel in the Bicol Region were affected by the storm, including 2,913 uniformed and 150 non-uniformed personnel.

Fajardo noted that 57 PNP infrastructures, 19 vehicles, and 8 motorcycles are damaged, with an estimated cost of P4.4 million.

The death toll from severe tropical storm Kristine has reached 116, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil announced financial assistance for affected personnel starting Tuesday (October 29), along with offers for no-interest calamity loans.

Police are also helping in the relief and recovery efforts in typhoon-hit areas, according to Fajardo.
