Korina Sanchez, Julius Babao deny P10M payment claim from Vico Sotto

Broadcasters Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao have denied allegations by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto that they were paid P10 million to interview Sarah and Curlee Discaya, his political rivals.

Sotto accused the journalists of unethical practices in a Facebook post on Thursday, questioning their motives for accepting such an offer.

Sanchez's team released a statement denying the claims and emphasizing that interviews with the Discayas were based on public interest and transparency due to their rise to prominence.

The producers stated they do not accept paid placements or 'puff' pieces, and had previously approached Sotto for interviews but he declined requests.

Both journalists stressed that their interviews were not news reports but lifestyle features and did not involve any financial incentives.
