Julie Anne San Jose apologizes for controversial church concert

Singer-actress Julie Anne San Jose has apologized for her controversial performance at Nuestra Señora del Pilar Parish Church in Mindoro, which included songs like 'Dancing Queen' and 'The Edge of Glory,' sparking widespread criticism.

In a Facebook statement on Thursday, October 10, San Jose acknowledged that her intentions were to share joy through the benefit concert but expressed regret for causing distress to the public, assuring that such an incident will not be repeated.

Sparkle GMA Artist Center previously took responsibility for coordinating the event and apologized for any offense caused by the inappropriate performance, emphasizing that Julie Anne is a devout Catholic with unshakable faith.

The parish priest Father Carlito Dimaano also issued an apology on Thursday for his lapses in organizing the secular concert inside the church shrine, which hurt the feelings of the faithful.

Among other activities, the concert was one of the main highlights of this year's annual Pistahan of Nuestra Señora del Pilar (Our Lady of the Pillar) in Mamburao, with all proceeds going to improve parish facilities.
