Veteran journalist Jay Ruiz was reappointed as acting secretary of the Presidential Communications Office on Tuesday by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who administered the oath of office to Ruiz and Atty. Claire Castro as PCO secretary and undersecretary.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed that Ruiz's reappointment paper was released on Monday, June 16, and the President retained him amid his Cabinet revamp.

The Commission on Appointments had previously deferred the deliberation on Ruiz's appointment as PCO chief due to lack of time before adjourning sine die last week.

Ruiz expressed gratitude for President Marcos Jr.'s continued trust and said the new mandate is both an honor and a responsibility, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in the success of the administration’s programs.
