Jaybee 'Jay' Ruiz sworn in as ad interim PCO secretary

Veteran journalist Jaybee 'Jay' Ruiz took his oath as ad interim secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Monday, vowing to fight disinformation and fake news.

Ruiz replaces Cesar Chavez, who resigned last February 5, emphasizing that combating false information is crucial for public trust and national unity.

Lawyer Claire Castro also took her oath as PCO Undersecretary and will serve as Palace press officer, presiding over Malacañang press briefings.

Ruiz told reporters at the Palace on Monday that his focus would be on delivering accurate information about state programs and policies to ensure public awareness of initiatives such as free education and housing for less fortunate citizens.

He thanked Chavez for his guidance during the transition period.
