Sen Marcos denies visiting VP Duterte at VMMC

Senator Imee Marcos denied visiting Vice President Sara Duterte at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) over the weekend.

Marcos said she only went to the VMMC but did not provide further details about her visit, declining to comment on Duterte's threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Duterte had been hospitalized after her chief of staff Zuleika Lopez was arrested and transferred to the VMMC following Duterte's revelation that she hired an assassin to kill the president, his wife Liza Araneta Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if anything happens to her.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will subpoena Duterte to explain her statements and identify the alleged hitman.

Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres noted during a Monday press briefing that Duterte would be the primary beneficiary if her alleged assassination plans succeeded, as she would assume the presidency.
