Iloilo aims to vaccinate 25K minors this month

Iloilo City aims to start vaccinating minors aged 12 to 17 against COVID-19 this month.

Around 25,000 minors have pre-registered for the vaccine in malls, public plazas, and barangay halls.

The city government's focal person, Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna, said that national authorities are eyeing mid-October to begin vaccinating these age groups.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has issued an executive order prohibiting minors under 18 from leaving their homes, thus pre-registration is being handled by parents.

Currently, only the National Capital Region (NCR), Cebu, and Davao are included in the pilot areas for inoculating minors; Iloilo City hopes to be added soon.
