Ilocos Sur declares Aug 22 'Day of Rejuvenation'

The Ilocos Sur provincial government declared Friday, August 22, as a 'Day of Rejuvenation,' granting employees an extended long weekend following Ninoy Aquino Day and ahead of National Heroes Day.

This initiative aims to prioritize the wellness of staff members before upcoming strategic planning sessions.

Employees will have a five-day break, including August 21 (Thursday), a special non-working day; August 22 (Friday), Day of Rejuvenation; Saturday (August 23) and Sunday (August 24); and August 25 (Monday), National Heroes Day.

Local resident Blessy Joy Bambalan expressed that this move by the government is beneficial for employee relaxation, which in turn makes them more effective at work.

While some business owners like Mark Doringo are taking advantage of the long weekend to travel and relax with their families, others such as RM Conda find it challenging to fully disconnect from work due to constant online engagement with guests.

Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, August 26, after the regular holiday for National Heroes Day.
