Senators back House call for P5B calamity fund increase

The House of Representatives is calling for a P5 billion increase in the country's calamity fund for 2021 to aid recovery from recent typhoons.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senator Sonny Angara support the proposal, with Sotto suggesting an even higher amount could be considered.

House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco estimates that at least P35 billion in damages have been inflicted by Typhoons Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses.
