House Quad Committee revived to probe missing sabungeros

Manila Representative Bienvenido Abante announced that the House Quad Committee will be revived in the 20th Congress to address the issue of missing sabungeros.

Abante emphasized that the disappearance of more than a hundred individuals involved in illegal cockfighting must be addressed as an extrajudicial killing issue, and plans to invite whistleblower 'Totoy' and businessman Atong Ang for testimonies during committee sessions.

The Philippine National Police will also be invited to provide insights into their ongoing investigations involving policemen suspected of involvement in these cases.

Authorities searching Taal have recovered a sack that may contain bones, raising concerns about the fate of missing sabungeros.

Congress is set to convene on July 28, 2025, with committees being formed thereafter to tackle these issues.
