House adopts resolutions for deceased Rep Edcel Lagman

The House of Representatives adopted resolutions expressing condolences for Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, who passed away on January 30.

House Resolution No. 2214, authored by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and others, was approved during the session on Monday in consolidation with HR Nos. 2211 and 2212.

Lagman died from cardiac arrest at age 82 after serving nine Congresses as representative of Albay's First District since 1987.

Former Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr., who co-authored the Reproductive Health bill with Lagman, praised him for his unwavering integrity and principled stance during a necrological service on Wednesday.

Romualdez highlighted Lagman’s dedication to serving the powerless and cited landmark laws such as the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act, abolition of the death penalty, and the Human Rights Victims Reparation and Recognition Act.
