House panel OKs P1.5-T stimulus bill for economic recovery

The House of Representatives' Defeat COVID-19 Committee approved a P1.5-trillion stimulus bill on Thursday.

House Bill 6709, known as the CURES Act, aims to boost spending in health, education, agriculture, local roads, and livelihood over three years.

The bill seeks to fund infrastructure projects such as barangay health centers, digital testing equipment, telemedicine services, post-harvest facilities, and farm-to-market roads.

Additionally, the committee approved a P1.3-trillion stimulus package on Tuesday from off-budget accounts to protect workers and revive consumer confidence.
