House orders custody of POGO rep Ong for contempt

The House of Representatives ordered the custody of Cassandra Li Ong, an official representative of Lucky South 99 POGO, for failing to attend hearings on POGO-related crimes.

Ong faces a contempt order from four House committees and was detained at the House of Representatives in Quezon City for 30 days after being intercepted in Indonesia while attempting to leave the country.

Philippine Statistics Authority records show that Ong is a naturalized Filipino citizen with a Chinese mother and a Filipino father, and she worked as a translator for Duanren Wu, an incorporator of Whirlwind Corporation, previously known as 'Dragon Wealth'.

Ong was deported to the Philippines on Thursday afternoon and arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport around 5 p.m.

The House committee plans to invite the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines for the next hearing to discuss flight details involving Ong and Sheila Guo, sister of dismissed Mayor Alice Guo.

Pagcor rejected Lucky South 99's license renewal due to violations found in internal investigations.
