FNU calls for lifting deployment ban on health workers

On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Filipino Nurses United (FNU) called for lifting the overseas deployment ban on healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organization highlighted that nurses have the right to seek better opportunities abroad and noted that some health workers have already spent nearly P100,000 on requirements for working abroad.

Senators Risa Hontiveros and Joel Villanueva also urged the government to reconsider the ban, citing the unfairness towards those who have invested in securing overseas employment contracts and permits.

Hontiveros emphasized that lifting the ban would prevent the efforts and expenses of aspiring healthcare workers from being wasted and suggested offering better salaries locally to encourage them to stay.
