Hontiveros prepares legal action against Maurilio for false testimony

Senator Risa Hontiveros is preparing a serious legal response against Michael Maurilio, who testified under the alias 'Rene' during Senate hearings about the Kingdom of Jesus Christ religious group and now claims he was paid to give false testimony.

Maurilio posted a video on social media alleging that his testimony against former President Rodrigo Duterte, Vice President Sara Duterte, and Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was fabricated by Hontiveros in exchange for money.

Hontiveros denied these allegations, stating that all witnesses testified freely and voluntarily, supported by evidence from multiple agencies.

She warned that those behind the intimidation attempt will face serious legal consequences and emphasized that the evidence her office provided is corroborated by various agencies and officials.

In February last year, alias Rene had testified about alleged abuses within the religious group and claimed to have witnessed Duterte officials carrying firearms during visits to Quiboloy's camp.
