AFP honors WWII heroes, modern-day front-liners

The Philippine Armed Forces celebrated National Heroes' Day on Monday with a ceremony at Libingan ng Mga Bayani, honoring Filipino World War II heroes.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea presided over the event, which included laying wreaths and opening an exhibit titled 'Mga Bayani ng Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig'.

President Rodrigo Duterte recognized both historical patriots who fought for freedom and modern-day heroes combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

AFP Chief-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. urged Filipinos to honor front-liners' sacrifices during the ongoing pandemic.
