Hoey misses Texas Open cut, Saso exits Match Play

Rico Hoey missed the cut at the Valero Texas Open after an erratic second round of 74, despite starting with a strong three-under-par 69 on Thursday (Friday Manila time).

Hoey was one stroke shy of making the cut at two-under-par and finished tied for 130th place.

Meanwhile, Yuka Saso also bowed out in the group stage of the T-Mobile Match Play after losing to Yealimi Noh in a comeback victory despite holding a 2-up lead at the turn.

Brian Harman surged ahead with a second straight 66 for a 132 total, four shots clear of Keith Mitchell (136), while overnight leader Sam Ryder dropped into a tie for third place after a 74.

Tougher afternoon conditions slowed scoring, resulting in several players missing the cut and ending their tournament early.
