Heavy rains cause floods, displacing over 2,000 in Bulacan

Heavy rains from the southwest monsoon, combined with high tide, caused extensive flooding in Bulacan province on Monday, July 21.

Floodwaters submerged homes and forced many families to evacuate; around 900 households, or more than 2,000 individuals, were displaced across 13 towns and cities.

Residents like Carlos de Vera from Marilao are struggling with recurring floods and the need for pumps to remove water from their homes.

Tuesday saw some residents in Marilao begin cleaning up as floodwaters receded; however, Jan dela Torre's family stayed behind to protect their belongings during the flooding.

Local officials advise those living in low-lying areas near rivers to stay vigilant as flooding continues to affect large parts of Bulacan.
