Duque urges health workers to reconsider mass protest plan

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Thursday appealed to health workers to reconsider their plan for a mass protest over unreleased benefits amid the pandemic.

On Monday, health worker groups from both public and private hospitals announced plans to hold a mass protest due to delays in receiving their benefits despite being on the frontlines against the coronavirus.

The Alliance of Health Workers (AHW) national president Robert Mendoza accused the DOH of failing to provide necessary benefits such as meal, transportation, accommodation allowances, Special Risk Allowance, and Active Hazard Duty Pay.

Health workers warned that they would stage a protest if their demands were not met, emphasizing their grievances and disappointment with the government's response.
