UP prof urges hiring more health workers amid COVID surge

A UP professor urged the government to urgently hire more healthcare workers due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Professor Ranjit Rye of the UP OCTA research team emphasized that increasing hospital capacity requires not just more beds and ventilators, but also more doctors, nurses, and health workers.

Rye stressed the need for hospitals to accommodate both COVID and non-COVID patients without overcrowding.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Minglanilla and Consolacion in Cebu, and Zamboanga City will remain under general community quarantine from August 1 to 15.
