Gov't planning relief for firms hit by COVID-19

The government is planning temporary relief measures for companies impacted by the decline in tax collections and reduced imports due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Finance Undersecretary Antonette C. Tionko stated that the government is evaluating which sectors are most affected, particularly those importing goods from China.

For the tourism sector, which has seen a surge of inbound Chinese tourists, relief measures will be extended to airlines and hotels suffering economic losses.

Tionko mentioned potential fee waivers such as landing fees for airlines as part of the proposed assistance.

All government agencies are expected to participate in implementing these initiatives.
