Gov't eyes 50% insurance subsidy for hog raisers

The Duterte administration is considering a 50% insurance subsidy for commercial hog raisers to address pork supply issues caused by African Swine Fever (ASF).

Funds for this initiative would come from the Department of Agriculture's Quick Response Fund.

ASF has led to a shortage in pork supply, causing prices to rise and prompting the government to impose price caps on selected pork products.
