Galvez: PH eyes better Christmas with herd immunity

The Philippine government is aiming for a 'better Christmas' this year by achieving herd immunity through the vaccination of 50 to 70 million Filipinos.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the country's vaccination program will gradually increase, with the goal of vaccinating one million citizens per week in April, two million per week in May, and three to five million per week starting June.

Galvez emphasized the need for a steady supply of vaccines to meet these targets and achieve herd immunity by the end of 2021.

The government also aims to eliminate COVID-19 in 2022, with plans to vaccinate the general public beginning in April or May.
