Gordon calls on SSS to review 2021 contribution hike

Senator Richard Gordon urged the Social Security System (SSS) to review suspending the planned contribution hike for 2021 due to economic challenges caused by the pandemic.

Gordon cited data from the National Economic and Development Authority indicating that economic losses in the first half of 2020 amounted to P5.2 trillion, surpassing the national budget for 2021.

He noted that when RA 11199 was enacted, lawmakers did not anticipate a pandemic's severe impact on the economy.
