Torres-Gomez, Gomez file for re-election

Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez and her husband, Leyte Fourth District Rep. Richard Gomez, filed their certificates of candidacy on Wednesday to seek re-election in the 2025 elections.

Torres-Gomez, accompanied by her family and local officials, submitted her document to run for a second term as mayor, while Richard aims to retain his position as representative of Leyte's Fourth District.

The couple faces challenges but remains optimistic about the upcoming election season, with Richard running against former Court of Appeals Associate Justice Vicente Veloso III.

Lucy noted that no rivals have emerged in her bid for re-election and emphasized the importance of a united slate for their political team.

Their political alliance has dominated Leyte's Fourth District since 2019, marking the end of the Codilla family's long-standing rule.
