Globe, NTC, DPWH form task force to reduce fiber cuts in Cagayan de Oro

A telecommunications company has strengthened its collaboration with government agencies to prevent disruptive fiber cuts linked to roadworks in Cagayan de Oro City.

An inter-agency task force headed by Mayor Rolando Uy of Cagayan de Oro includes representatives from Globe, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

From January to December 2024, there were 54 recorded fiber cuts in Cagayan de Oro City, the highest in Northern Mindanao.

With 14 fiber cuts recorded from January to March 2025, the task force continues working towards achieving zero incidents through consistent teamwork.

Globe thanked its partners for facilitating collaboration towards protecting fiber infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity.

City Mayor Rolando Uy highlighted that these disruptions affect households and businesses, impacting public services and the local economy.

NTC Region 10 director Teodoro Buenavista Jr. noted that the task force could serve as a model for other local governments to address similar issues.
