Gilas women lose to Japan in FIBA Asia Cup

Gilas Pilipinas women's team put up a stronger fight but still lost to five-time reigning champion Japan, 95-57, on Tuesday in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.

Despite improvements in defense and energy, Gilas struggled against Japan's superior play, especially in the final quarter where they were outscored 29-9.

Head coach Pat Aquino praised his team's effort but acknowledged that maintaining focus throughout the game was challenging.

Vanessa de Jesus led Gilas with 12 points and four assists, while Afril Bernardino and Janine Pontejos each contributed 12 and 11 points respectively.
